Abstract

Mojolaban District is located in the northern most part of Sukoharjo Regency where most people work in the gamelan industry. Before the pandemic, craftsmen always received large orders from both domestic and foreign regions, but with the covid-19 pandemic, they created new problems because orders were low and the turnover of craftsmen decreased, resulting in a reduction in workers. Thus, the emergence of an impact on the socio-economic conditions of the gamelan craftsmen. The research entitled "Analysis of the Impact of Covid-19 on the Socio-Economic Condition of Gamelan Craftsmen in Mojolaban District, Sukoharjo Regency in 2021" has the following research objectives: 1. Knowing the socio-economic characteristics of gamelan craftsmen in Mojolaban District, 2. Knowing the impact on social and economic gamelan craftsmen from the covid-19 pandemic, 3. Knowing the strategies of craftsmen in dealing with obstacles during the covid-19 pandemic. This research method uses the census method with a questionnaire as an interview tool. The population of gamelan craftsmen in Mojolaban is 21 people consisting of all men. In this study, no sample was used because the population was only 21 craftsmen. Methods of collecting data obtained are primary and secondary. Primary data from direct interviews in the field and secondary data from offices or agencies related to research. The data analysis method used is descriptive quantitative analysis and analysis with a spatial approach. The results of this study are (1) the characteristics of the socio-economic conditions of the respondents with all gamelan craftsmen all male, namely 100%. The last education level of traders is elementary school graduates 14%, junior high school 52%, high school 29%, diploma/bachelor 5%. The monthly income earned by gamelan craftsmen before the covid-19 pandemic was at most Rp. > 500.000 with a percentage of 57%. (2) The positive impact from a social and economic perspective, the positive impact for gamelan craftsmen during this pandemic is the return of traditions that exist in the community that are almost emerging and the emergence of a sense of mutual cooperation among neighbors, but on the other hand the craftsmen also feel the negative impact, namely becoming a disaster. Meanwhile, there is no positive impact on the economy and a negative impact on a decrease in income and no income. (3) The strategy of craftsmen in dealing with these problems is by finding and doing side jobs to fulfill their daily needs such as raising livestock, farming, farming and trading. The conclusion of this study shows that gamelan craftsmen in Mojolaban can still fulfill their daily needs, namely by working side jobs, and with the Covid-19 pandemic, the return of almost extinct community traditions such as gotong royong and night patrols.
