Abstract

One of the health problems that often occur in adolescents is obesity, a factor that influences the occurrence of obesity in adolescents is a change in diet which tends to change to a western diet, especially in the form of fast food. One of the factors that influence fast food consumption patterns is nutritional knowledge. During the pandemic, there was an increase in adolescents who consumed fast food, sweet and fatty foods. This study aimed to determine the correlation between nutritional knowledge and the frequency of fast food consumption among students of the Nutrition Science Study Program, Faculty of Health Science in Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta during the COVID-19 Pandemic. This type of research was observational with cross sectional approach. The sampling technique used Simple Random Sampling with a total sample of 74 people. On the level of nutritional knowledge was obtained from a nutrition knowledge questionnaire with 23 questions and frequency of fast food consumption was obtained from the Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ). Analysis of the correlation test used was the Spearman Rank test. The level of knowledge of nutrition in the good categories was (89.2%) and the frequency of fast food consumption was low (64.9%). There was no correlation between nutritional knowledge and the frequency of fast food consumption among students of the Nutrition Science Study Program Health Science Faculty Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta during the COVID-19 pandemic.
