Abstract

The Qur'an as the holy book of Islam which was revealed to the prophet Muhammad SAW, since its revelation emphasizes deep attention to socio-economic problems in people's lives, one of which is riba in buying and selling activities. Many people do not understand riba, especially in buying and selling activities, one of which occurs to Muslim traders at the Purwantoro market, Wonogiri district. This research is intended to find out the cause of the lack of understanding of Muslim traders in the Purwantoro market, Wonogiri district about usury in buying and selling activities and to find out that buying and selling activities in the Purwantoro market in Wonogiri district do not contain usury. This type of research is field research, using a qualitative descriptive research approach. The results showed that the cause of the lack of understanding of Muslim traders in the Purwantoro market, Purwantoro district, Wonogiri district was due to the low level of education and the lack of deepening of religious knowledge, especially about usury in buying and selling activities. The traders in the Purwantoro market also do not make buying and selling that contains usury.
