Abstract
Chronic kidney disease is a associated with oxidative stress due to increased of ROS that can increase blood uric acid levels due to a decrease in the ability of the kidneys to excrete uric acid. Propoelix™ contains CAPE as an antioxidant component that can inhibit the process of oxidative stress so that it can reduce blood uric acid. This research method is a true experimental design with pre-test and post-test control group design. The reasearch subjects were 28 male rats of the wistar albino strain according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Subjects were divided into 2 control groups and 2 treatment groups, each group consisted of 7 rats. K1 (positive control group/non CKD), K2 (negative control group/CKD), K3 (Propoelix™ treatment group at 0.0216 g/200 g BW), and K4 (Propoelix™ treatment group at 0.0432 g/200 g BW). Measurement of uric acid levels using the enzymatic photometric test method TBHBA (2,4,6 – tribromo – 3 – hydroxybenzoic acid) in pre and post-treatment. There was a significant decrease (p<0.01) in the blood uric acid levels of rats given Propoelix™. The Propoelix™ treatment group at a dose of 0.0216 g/200 g BW decreased uric acid levels by 49.56% while the Propoelix™ treatment group at a dose of 0.0432 g/200 g BW experienced a 68.23% decrease in uric acid levels. So, provision of Propoelix ™ doses of 0.0216 g/200 g BW and 0.0432 g/200 g BW has an effect on reducing blood uric acid levels in chronic kidney disease rats.
