Abstract
The objectives of this research are: 1) to identify the kinds of translation techniques of idhofah (noun phrase) translation found in the Nobel Quran, and 2) to describe the translation quality (accuracy, acceptability, and readability) of idhofah (noun phrase) translation found in the Nobel Quran. This research applies a descriptive qualitative research design. The objects of the research are idhofah (noun phrase) translation of the Nobel Quran by Al-Hilali and Khan. Techniques for collecting data was documentation. The data validity used expert judgment. The data analysis used qualitative analysis. The results of the finding show that: first: the translators used two-translation technique in translating noun phrase: single translation technique and the couplet translation technique. In the single translation technique, the researcher found 67 data consisting of 10 techniques: amplification, calque, established equivalent, generalization, literal translation, compensation, description, transposition, particularization, and reduction. For the couplet translation technique, it is found 21 consisted of borrowing + amplification, transposition + amplification, transposition + borrowing, adaptation + amplification, compensation + established equivalent, particularization. The second finding, this study found that from 89 data: 98% were identically accurate and 2% were identically less accurate, from 89 data: 97% were identically acceptable and 3% were identically less acceptable and from 89 data: 98 % data were identically readable and 3 % were identically less readable.
