Abstract

The implementation of the contract will give rise to rights and obligations between husband and wife. One of the rights and obligations of the husband is to provide for his family, namely his wife and children. This obligation should be carried out properly so that it is far from divorce, because this living is one of the factors of divorce. The research entitled "Family Support According to Muhammad Quraish Shihab in Tafsir Al-Mishbah", has the aim of understanding how the meaning of family income according to Muhammad Quraish Shihab in the Book of Tafsir Al-Mishbah. This research is a library research. The data sources used are primary and secondary data from the Book of Tafsir Al-Mishbah, as well as related works in the form of journals, theses, scientific articles, and books that are specific to the discussion of livelihood. The data will be analyzed using a qualitative descriptive method that is analytical. The results of this study are that Quraish Shihab interprets the verses regarding family living in his commentary book Al-Mishbah is that a husband must provide a living for his wife and children, a living is not only in the form of money, but can take the form of other things, for example, a place to live, food, education, and so on. The law of living for the family is obligatory because there is a contract between husband and wife that gives birth to rights and obligations between the two. Because of this obligation for the wife who is divorced while pregnant in a raj'iy and ba'in condition, the husband is obliged to provide a living during the pregnancy until delivery, and if the wife wants to breastfeed the child, the husband is obliged to give the wife who breastfeeds it in return. The provision of a living is adjusted to the circumstances, conditions, and abilities of the husband.
