Abstract
The more the population in Indonesia, the more food needs that must be provided. Pesticides are substances that can be toxic, but on the other hand, pesticides are needed by farmers to protect their crops. The uncontrolled use of pesticides will result in the health of farmers themselves and the environment in general. The cause of poisoning due to pesticides is that farmers pay less attention to the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in spraying using pesticides. This study aims to determine the relationship between the use of pesticides and the discipline of using PPE for rice farmers in Jagalan Village, Karangnongko District, Klaten Regency. This type of research is a quantitative study with a cross sectional design. Statistical test used to analyze the relationship between variables using the Spearman correlation test. The study showed that there was no relationship between pesticide use and discipline in the use of PPE (p value = 0,510). For farmers to pay attention to the use of pesticides for plants or plant-disturbing animals, and maintain conformity in using safe pesticides in the workplace. As well as discipline in the use of PPE when carrying out work in the workplace.
