Abstract

Schools are the main means of meeting the needs of the community for education. For this reason, it is necessary to provide educational facilities and spread evenly throughout the region. The objectives of this study are (1) to determine the distribution of high school education facilities in North Penajam Paser Regency, and (2) to determine the fulfillment of high school level education facilities through the APS (School Participation Rate) value. The research method used is quantitative description method. The analytical method used in determining the spatial pattern of high school education facilities is the nearest neighbor analysis and quantitative descriptive data analysis to analyze the fulfillment of high school education facilities through the school participation rate in North Penajam Paser Regency. The data used in this study as a whole is secondary data, namely general condition data and administrative maps of North Penajam Paser Regency, location data for the coordinates of high school education facilities, as well as data on the number of high school students and the population of high school age. The data in this study were obtained by reviewing BPS documents for North Penajam Paser Regency and plotting the coordinates of high school education facilities. Data processing is assisted by using Geographic Information System (GIS) techniques. The results of this study are in the form of a map of the distribution of high school education facilities in North Penajam Paser Regency and the fulfillment of high school education facilities based on the value of the School Participation Rate (APS). The value of the distribution pattern of high school education facilities has a value of T = 1.15. The T value is classified as number 1, so that the variation in the pattern of distribution of high school education facilities in North Penajam Paser Regency is random, meaning that the number of high school education facilities in North Penajam Paser Regency is evenly distributed but the number of senior high schools is still small in each sub-district so that it has not reached the entire area. Then for the fulfillment of high school education facilities, it can be seen that in Babulu District it is 66.4%, Waru District is 81.2%, Penajam District is 52.0%, and Sepaku District is 52.6%. This means that the condition of education services is still not opening up greater opportunities in accessing education in general, especially at the high school level.
