Abstract
Underweight is a malnutrition in toddlers who are underweight due to acute malnutrition. One of the factors that cause underweight is exclusive breastfeeding. Breast milk contains nutrients needed by the body so that it can fulfil nutrition needs and strengthening the body’s immunity. The study aimed to examine the correlation between exclusive breastfeeding with the incidences of toddlers underweight in Indonesia. The research method used was literature (narrative) review in journal articles with cross-sectional research design in the last 10 years and indexed Sinta S1 - S4. The criteria of inclusion were the form of journal articles with full text written in Bahasa or English and research subjects are toddlers. Statistical test results of the review based on 4 articles showed that there were 2 articles show a significant relationship between the two variables (p < 0.05; OR = 4.81; 95% CI = 0.000 – 0.295) while the other 2 articles showed no significant relationship. on both variables (P>0.05). The conclusion of this research, exclusive breastfeeding is one of the factors that triggers the occurrence of underweight in toddlers so that a program is needed in the form of education and promotion of exclusive breastfeeding to mothers in order to reduce the occurence of underweight.
