Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has made the implementation of learning impossible as usual. Learning is required online by utilizing existing learning applications. Distance learning certainly has obstacles faced by both teachers and students, including students who do not have smartphones, wasteful internet quotas, and unstable internet networks are the main obstacles when distance learning. In addition, learning which is usually carried out using active learning methods cannot be carried out effectively. Teachers are required to be creative in innovating learning with online application media. Especially in the subject of Islamic Religious Education which aims to instill values of faith and piety as personality development so that they are pious to Allah and have noble character in everyday life. This study aims to describe the implementation of distance learning, the effectiveness of distance learning, and identify obstacles in the distance learning process in Islamic Religious Education subjects at SMP Negeri 2 Klaten. This research is a type of qualitative research, so that in conducting data analysis methods using qualitative descriptive analysis methods. As for the data collection using interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of distance learning is carried out online and runs according to the guidelines for organizing learning from home based on circular letter number 15 of 2020. The learning process begins with the teacher preparing a lesson plan, the material to be delivered, and the media and tools used. will be used to convey the material. In the implementation of learning the teacher delivers material using YouTube streaming, WhatsApp, and Google Classroom with lecture or assignment methods. The evaluation process is carried out with daily tests or post tests using Google Forms or the teacher makes questions submitted in the WhatsApp group or Google Classroom. The effectiveness of distance learning goes well and effectively. This is shown during the learning process and student learning outcomes that exceed the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM). During the learning process, there is reciprocity between teachers and students to achieve good learning goals and outcomes. The learning carried out is in accordance with the terms and indicators of effective learning. Then the obstacles in distance learning are: not all students have smartphones, the internet network is not stable, internet quota is wasteful, students' interest and enthusiasm for learning is lacking, students are less disciplined and cannot divide their time on the assigned tasks, teachers cannot monitor student activities, and communication between parents and schools that are less than optimal.
