Abstract

Islamic boarding schools have a big role in educating the nation's life through education, especially on moral values which are the strength in developing the order of people's lives. Even Islamic Boarding School are able to take on the role as centers of social change around them. Bairuha Islamic Boarding School builds a character program which is often referred to as individual behavior or individual behavior, namely honesty, trustworthiness, and mujhid muzhid. This study aims to determine the role of Bairuha Islamic boarding school in instilling honest, trustworthy, and mujhid muzhid characters, supporting and inhibiting factors, as well as the implications of inculcating honest, trustworthy, and mujhid muzhid characters on students. This research uses the type of field research. The approach in this study uses a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques using interviews, observation, and documentation. The data analysis method is inductive analysis with the stages of the data reduction process, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the Bairuha Islamic boarding school in instilling the character of honesty, trustworthiness, and mujhid muzhid students had carried out several roles as educational institutions which were carried out using several strategies and methods. The strategies used are providing knowledge, conducting supervision, giving direction/ advice, reporting, and giving punishment; as well as the methods used such as the method of advice, studying science with books, example, habituation, and punishment. The supporting factors are from parents, students, teachers, administrators, the environment, and cooperation between parents and boarding school teachers. While the inhibiting factors are facilities and infrastructure, social friends, lack of contribution of students, psychological conditions. The implications of inculcating honest, trustworthy, and mujhid muzhid characters for students are having wider religious knowledge, having moral character, having discipline and responsibility.
