Abstract

Mosques have a strategic function in Islamic society. Apart from being a place of worship, the mosque also functions as a medium for holistic development of the people. Rasulullah SAW built the first mosque in the city of Medina with the aim of enlightening the people and introducing the divine message. The mosque in Padangsidimpuan City is very strategically located on the edge of the Trans Sumatran National Road, so that many travelers pass by but because the condition of the mosque is inadequate from its facilities, namely there is parking, no restarea, bathrooms are not separated between the community and travelers , the mosque building is small, so it is not sufficient for travelers. Therefore, the Musafir Mosque in Padangsidimpuan City deserves to be built in accordance with its theme, namely traveler-friendly according to the purpose. The method used is descriptive method. And the result of this design is the Musafir Mosque in Padangsidimpuan with the concept of an Ottoman Turkish nuance and ornaments on the outer walls of a traditional mosque.
