Abstract

Peat soil is a non-renewable natural resource. Peat soil has many benefits, especially for the environment around peat areas, therefore peat management must be strictly maintained. Environmental education needs to be carried out by people living in peat areas to understand the great benefits if they can maintain the peat environment in their area. This research is a literature study that aims to (1) analyze the learning strategies used in environmental education, (2) analyze how to introduce peat soil for environmental education and (3) identify the role of peat soil for environmental education. This research is a type of qualitative research using a systematic review as a research method. This study uses data collection techniques through a publication database using https://garuda.ristekbrin.go.id/. by using the keywords "Peatland", "Environmental Education", "Learning Strategy". There were a total of 172 articles related to that keyword and only 29 articles were selected. Articles were not selected in this study because they were considered less relevant to the focus of this research. The results of this study are (1) using a learning model in environmental learning is very useful for students because it can encourage students to more easily understand the material presented by the teacher to students. (2) introduction to peat soil can be done by utilizing map media in learning, there is also by educating students and inviting students in empowering the use of peat soil, (3) peat soil plays an important role in environmental learning which acts as a source of learning and can encourage students to protect the environment and peat ecosystem. The conclusion of this study shows that peat soil has an important role for the environment and acts as a learning resource for environmental education in Indonesia. Environmental sustainability is very influential to support our lives in the future
