Abstract
Background: Aging is a complex natural process involving every cell, molecule, and organ in the human body. Older adult will experience a decrease in muscle morphology which can cause changes in muscle function where there is decreased muscle strength and contraction, decreased muscle flexibility and elasticity, visual system disorders, decreased propioceptive function, vestibular disturbances and reaction time. This causes dynamic balance disorders. Dynamic balance is the ability to maintain balance while moving or to move objects from a static state to a dynamic state. Purpose: The aim of this study was to find out whether Pilates exercise is effective to improving dynamic balance in the older adult. Methode: The design and method used is a literature review. Result: Based on the research that has been done on the effectiveness of Pilates exercise to improve dynamic balance in the older adult , Conclusion: it is concluded that Pilates exercise is proven to improve dynamic balance in the older adult
