Abstract

The principal is an educational workforce who is very important to move the front line of school in the national education system. Principals have various styles or types of leadership. While being the principal of the school, Mrs. Dra. Hj. Nurul Qomariyah, M. Pd. to improve the quality of physical and non-physical. MTs Negeri 1 Klaten in the best madrasah in the Klaten area so that it is in great demand by students who will continue to the SMP/MTs level. That study aims to describe the leadership style of the principal in improving the quality of education at MTs Negeri 1 Klaten. The research is a type of field research with notes of observation, documentation, and interviews. The data comes from determining the relevant data sources, namely the principal of MTs Negeri 1 Klaten and order informants. Data collection methods in this study used observation, interviews, and documentation. The research uses a descriptive method. The results of this study indicate that the leadership style is a democratic leadership style. Meanwhile, the principal’s leadership in improving the quality of education is the Special Program Class whose learning focused on Science, Mathematics, Arabic, English, and Tahfidz materials. The aim is that graduates are really ready and have the skills needed to continue to the SMA/MA and SMK levels. This Special Program Class has the aim of expanding mastery of learning materials determind by the school and to adapt to subject matter at the SMA/MA and SMK levels.
