Abstract

Discipline is a component in determining the process of achieving school goals. With the application of discipline in students, it is expected that an atmosphere that is conducive to the learning process at school will emerge. Discipline as a way to show an orderly and orderly atmosphere that comes from the community in the organization. Realizing good discipline must start with self-control, especially for students. Lack of student discipline in the learning process has an impact on the learning process that is disrupted. So it takes a teacher's effort to overcome it. The research method used is a type of field research. The approach used is descriptive qualitative. The research object was located at the Kartasura 5 State Junior High School. The subjects in this study were the principal, teachers of Islamic religious education and students. While the data collection method, the researcher used 3 data collection methods, namely, interview, observation, and documentation. The results of this study are, 1) The role of the teacher in shaping the disciplinary character of students is carried out by disciplining students' time by enforcing sanctions on those who are late or not on time in carrying out the learning process, enforcing sanctions on students who violate the rules, then developing Discipline character of students through attitude discipline through the process of monitoring student worship activities in schools in the form of Dhuha prayers, Dzuhur, and Friday prayers. In addition, the attitudes of students are monitored outside of school through collaboration with student guardians. 2) Inhibiting and supporting factors, among others; the supporting factor comes from the assistance of the school organization, namely OSIS in the field of Rohis and the inhibiting factors, namely; factors from the family environment, the facilities provided by the school, and self-awareness of students towards disciplined character education.
