Abstract
ABSTRACT Gadis Pasa Marasita. 2021. TEACHER’S QUESTIONING STRATEGIES AND STUDENTS’ RESPONSE IN TEACHING COMPLIMENT AT THE TENTH GRADE OF SMA MUHAMMADIYAH 2 SURAKARTA IN 2019/2020 ACADEMIC YEAR. This research aimed to find out the questioning strategies that the English teacher used during the classroom interaction at SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Surakarta and the students response related to the questions. This research is descriptive qualitatve research. The data were collected from the observation script, and interview by audio recorder. The data ware taken from three classes at SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Surakarta The result of the research showed that the teacher used Question-Planning Stategy and Question-Controlling Strategy. The teacher used questioning strategies to check the students’ knowledge and stimulus. The students participate in the classroom interaction. And the students respond related the question is that there are some students who an active in answering and some are silent, this is because each student has different level of understanding.
