Abstract

The Madyans are elitists who have abundant wealth but were eventually annihilated by Allah swt because of the way they did it to destroy the social order, especially regarding trading behavior. Mentioned in the interpretation of Jami' Li Ahkam of the Qur'an, the Madyans have the characteristics of deceiving prices, hiding something that is despicable and fraudulent in the scales and measures. History does not rule out the possibility of repeating itself. Moving on from that, the trading character of the Madyan people can happen at this time. Therefore, the researcher conducted his research in the Sidodadi Kleco market to photograph the trading characteristics of the Madyan people in the market. The formulation of the problem in this study is how are the trading characteristics of the Madyan people on traders at the Sidodadi Kleco Market?.This type of research is field research (field research). The sample in this study totaled 50 respondents. The sampling technique in this study used purposive sampling. The data collection techniques used questionnaires, interviews, observation and documentation. The data analysis is descriptive analysis in which the data obtained are analyzed and presented in tabular form, then explanations and conclusions are given for each table.The following are the results of research based on three data collection techniques, namely questionnaires, interviews and documentation. First, an indicator of the characteristics of the Madyan people, namely hiding something despicable. The results of the questionnaire showed that 66% of traders answered that they always provided information when there were defects in goods. This data is supported by the results of observations and interviews, which most traders hold the principle of responsibility in carrying out economic activities or buying and selling. Second, the indicator cheats the price. Based on the results of the questionnaire showing the preferences of traders in the Sidodadi Kleco market, the dominant answer is that they always never give different prices to all buyers with a total of 68% of traders. This data is also supported by the results of observations and interviews conducted by researchers at the Sidodadi Kleco Market. Traders at the Sidodadi Kleco market uphold the aspect of fairness in doing business in the market. Third, cheating indicators in scales and measurements. Based on the results of the questionnaire, 88% of traders answered that they always never cheated on the scales and measurements. Although the dominant answer is always, from the data from interviews and observations, there are small elements who behave like Madyan people in economic activities, namely cheating in weighing and measuring. Like one of the merchants who deliberately put the goods first on the cargo plate even though there were no buyers. In fact, when the load is empty, the scales must be in a balanced position.
