Abstract
The role of mass media is significant for the dissemination and development of public communication. Mass media's presence helps the Government distribute information about the spread of Covid-19 so that information spreads more quickly, accurately, and reliably. In October, there was a demonstration against the Job Creation Bill in several regions in Indonesia. Many people think that demonstrations can be the cause of the increase in positive cases. This assumption appears inseparable from the role of the media in constructing events. This study aims to identify the online media coverage of Tribunnews.com and Detik.com in understanding, interpreting, and framing the news on the October issue of the Covid-19 positive case development. This study used a descriptive qualitative method with the Framing theory approach by Robert N Entman, analyzed using four framing elements.Define Problem(Defining problems),Diagnose Causes (Diagnosing causes), Making moral judgments (making moral decisions), Treatment recommendations (emphasizing resolution) and are analyzed by dividing two categories of issues, first, data on positive case developments, and second, the spread of Covid-19 positive cases. Data collection techniques used document studies. The results showed that positive case developments between the two October edition national media found news constructions based on these framing elements. The issue category "Positive Case Development Data" Detik.com provides detailed data on every aspect. Tribunnews.com focuses on general, non-detailed data. The issue category of "Positive Case Development Data" Detik.com conveyed a warning of the dangers of a demonstration against the spread of Covid-19. At the same time, Tribunnews.com clearly showed the form of real cases after the demonstration took place. Online media is a form of public space to improve the information for the community, so the news is expected to be more objective, broad, and educative.
