Abstract
This study aims to determine the dual role of women in the palm fiber broom home industry and the reasons women work in the palm fiber broom home industry in Manggis Village. This study uses a qualitative research type with an ethnographic design. The subjects of this study were home industry owners and female workers. The object of this research is the dual role of women in the palm fiber broom home industry in Manggis Village. Data collection techniques used include: observation, interviews, and documentation. To ensure the validity of the data, the researcher used source triangulation and technical triangulation. The data analysis technique uses data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The results of this study indicate that the role of women is very strong and the enthusiasm of women in working is very large. Women have a role that must be carried out, namely in the domestic sector, namely as housewives and the public role as workers is done by dividing time. The role of women as workers in the home industry makes a major contribution to improving family welfare. The reason women work is to meet economic needs, low education levels, and age factors. This discussion shows that the role of women as workers is very important for the life of housewives in Manggis Village to help the family economy. The conclusion in this study shows that with the dual role of women as housewives and as workers, it is expected to be able to divide time well for the welfare of the family.
