Abstract
In an industrial factory, you definitely need a tool called a conveyor. Conveyor itself is a means of transportation that is generally used in the industrial world of assembly and production processes to transport production materials from one place to another. Therefore, the conveyor system is a choice that is often used in the industrial world, especially in the packaging system. In a packaging system, an automatic control system is needed so that it can be adjusted as desired. In addition to requiring automatic control, the packing system also requires a monitoring system that is used as a counter to the number of items and boxes to make it easier to find out the number of items and boxes that have been completed in the packing process. The purpose of this research is to design a prototype conveyor control on a programmable logic controller based packaging system with monitoring human machine interface in order to facilitate the process of transporting manufactured goods, time efficiency, and speed up the process of packing goods. The packing system uses two conveyor belts, where the first conveyor belt is used to deliver goods to the packing place while the second conveyor belt is used as an introduction to cardboard for the packing place. The conveyor belt uses a DC motor drive engine. DC motor is a device that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy with a direct current voltage source. Furthermore, for the control system using PLC OMRON CP1L L20 which is used to control the DC motor control on the conveyor belt so that it can work alternately. In addition, it also uses the E18-D8ONK adjustable infrared proximity distance sensor as a detector of goods and boxes which will later be displayed on the HMI OMRON NB5Q-TW00B for monitoring the number of boxes that have been counted. The first research method is literature study as an initial process to find references, then hardware design, software design or ladder diagram making (software), and the last is tool testing. The results of the study show that the conveyor belt is able to work according to the program on the PLC and the infrared sensor is able to detect goods and boxes properly, so that the calculation data from the infrared sensor can be displayed directly by the HMI screen in real time.
