Abstract

The BNPB recorded that the eruption of Mount Merapi occurred on June 21, 2020, previously a fairly large eruption occurred in 2018 and a very large eruption occurred in 2010. The activity of Mount Merapi in 2018 before the eruption was at a normal level and without starting with seismic activity at the initial symptoms (precursor) (Jane et al, 2018). One of the secondary impacts felt after the eruption was lava flood. The purpose of this study was to determine the distribution of lahar floods in Cangkringan Sub-district, to know the socio-economic vulnerability and socio-economic risk of lahar floods in Cangkringan District and to analyze the suitability of lahar flood risk to the spatial distribution in the lava flood watershed. This research method uses quantitative methods to determine the level of lava flood risk and a qualitative method to analyze the suitability of the spatial distribution of the results of the lava flood risk map. The results of this study are in the form of the distribution of lava floods, areas which include vulnerability and risk to lava floods. The social risk of lahar flooding is found in Jambu Hamlet in Kepuharjo Village and Srunen Hamlet and Bendesari Hamlet in Glagaharjo Village. Meanwhile, the economic risks spread to Hamlet Jambu and Hamlet Kepuh in Kepuharjo Village and Srunen Hamlet and Bendesari Hamlet in Glagaharjo Village. The suitability of the spatial distribution with the lahar flood risk map, in general, has a suitability, one of which is because of the supporting factors of its existence in the upstream of Kali Gendo. In addition, the intensity factor of sand mining also affects the narrowing of the Gendol River and the socio-economic activities of the community also affect the suitability of the socio-economic risk of the lahar flood disaster.
