Abstract

Population growth and the existence of population activities in an area, especially in urban areas, will certainly affect the rate of land use change. The change in land use is seen from the agricultural economic aspect which is a threat to the food security of the population and from the environmental aspect it is a threat to the carrying capacity of the environment. Cities experience rapid growth, one of the causes of urban growth and development is the existence of economic growth. The development and activity of the population which increases in number, therefore requires a lot of land, so that in the end there is competition for city land which is limited in area which causes the change of agricultural land to become residential land, this is also the case in Playen District. The research "Analysis of Changes in Wetlands to Settlements in Playen District, Gunung Kidul Regency in 2013 and 2018" aims: 1. Knowing the land use change agendas in the study area in 2013 and 2018, and 2. Analyzing the regional factors that cause changes in land use in Playen District, Gunungkidul Regency in 2013 and 2018. The method used in this study used a qualitative description. Efforts to describe the research results use Geo-Eye imagery to interpret these images. The analysis using Geo-Eye imagery aims to obtain results in the form of changes in agricultural land use to residential land in Playen District in 2013 and 2018. From the research that has been done, the results show that in the Playen District in 2013 and 2018 there were changes in land use. , especially agricultural land turned into residential land. This occurs due to various factors, and the most important factor is the increase in population and centers of economic activity for the population.
