Abstract

This study aims to describe the application, effectiveness, constraints, and solutions of the application of the Flipped Classroom strategy through WhatsApp Group media for class XI OTKP 2 students of SMK Negeri 1 Pedan, Klaten Regency, 2020/2021 academic year. This study uses a combination of qualitative and quantitative approaches (mixing methods). The qualitative approach design uses case studies, while the quantitative uses pre-experimental with One Group Pretest Posttest Design. Qualitative data collection uses observation and interviews, while quantitative uses tests. The validity of the qualitative data used triangulation of sources and techniques. Test the validity of quantitative test items by measuring the items or instrument items using the Correlations Product Moment formula, rough numbers and the reliability test of the test instruments using the KR 20 formula. Data analysis in the qualitative approach used a flowing model, while the quantitative approach used Paired Sample T-test. Data analysis using Paired Sample T-Test shows that tcount 7,463 is greater than ttable 2,086 with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that the pretest average value of 66.25 increased to 87.25 in the posttest. Based on the results of the two pretest and posttest data, it can be concluded that the hypothesis proposed by Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, meaning that there is a difference between before treatment (Pretest) and after treatment (Posttest) by implementing the Flipped Classroom strategy through WhatsApp Group media in class XI OTKP 2 students. SMK Negeri 1 Pedan, Klaten Regency, 2020/2021 academic year. This difference indicates an increase in the mean score of understanding the values of Indonesian democracy between before (Pretest) and after treatment (Posttest). The obstacle faced is the limited time related to research implementation. An alternative solution to overcome these obstacles is that researchers schedule research early and must be good at managing time well. Based on the above conclusion, implies that teachers who want students' understanding of Indonesian Democratic values to increase, then it is very appropriate to apply the Flipped Classroom strategy through WhatsApp Group media.
