Abstract
Infectious disease is a disease that still occurs in many parts of the world. Basil plants (Ocinum basilicum L.) and fragrant pandanus plants (Pandanus amaryllifolius Roxb.) are type of plants that have great potential as antibacterial properties. Both plants containing alkaloid compounds, saponins, tannins, and flavonoids. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of the combination of basil leaf extract and fragrant pandan leaves against the growth of Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 bacteria. This type of research is experimental with the CRD approach (completely randomized design). The object in the study was a combination of basil leaf extract and fragrant pandan leaves extract (1:1 w/w), with a concentration of 5%, to 100%, positive control used chloramphenicol while negative control used DMSO. The inhibition test method used was paper disk disc diffusion. All pets were incubated at 37 ° C for 1x24 hours. Data analysis used the Kruskal Wallis test. The results showed that the combination of extracts of Basil Leaves and Pandan Wangi Leaves with a concentration of 5%, 12,%, 25%, 50, 75%, and 100% can inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 with an average diameter of each inhibitory zona of 4,33 ± 3,75 mm, 6,67 ± 0,28 mm, 6,83 ± 0,28 mm, 7,16 ± 0,28 mm, 8,3 ± 0,57 mm, and 11,16 ±1,25 mm. The results of the Kruskal Wallis test was obtained the value of p = 0.011 (p> 0.01). Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that there is no significant difference in the area of inhibition of the use of various concentrations combinations of basil and pandan leaves extracts on the growth of Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 bacteria.
