Abstract

This study aims to describe the formula of pop literature in the novel and to reveal the values of character education in the novel. This type of research is descriptive qualitative with content analysis data collection techniques. The data used are sentences and expressions in the novel Laskar Pelangi and the data source used is the novel Laskar Pelangi by Andrea Hirata. The results obtained from the data on the suitability of pop literature formulas, it can be concluded that the Laskar Pelangi novel has formulas such as adventure formulas, romance formulas, and melodrama formulas. However, at the end of the research, it was found that the melodrama formula dominates the genre in this novel. In addition, the most dominant character education values are religious values, tolerance, responsibility, hard work, and optimism.
