Abstract

Good coping strategies are needed by students when studying because not all coping strategies are effective in managing stress. Religious coping strategies are considered suitable for students because they can assess difficult situations with positive considerations. Previous research showed no difference in coping strategies between male and female students. The purpose of this study was to determine religious coping strategies in students based on gender. This research uses quantitative research. The data collection tool uses a religious coping scale that modifies aspects of Pargament and Alfakseir. The respondents of this study were 184 students. Independent sample t-test was used to analyze the data. The study showed that there was no difference in religious coping based on gender because the significance of religious coping was sig 2 tailed = 0.071 (p>0.05) so that the hypothesis was accepted. This means that there is no difference in religious coping between male and female students, both of whom carry out religious practices. Female students were found to be more likely to use religious coping strategies than male.
