Abstract
Inappropriate waste management causes environmental pollution which leads to the emergence of various kinds of diseases suffered by the community because the environment is contaminated by substances contained in the waste. Actually, waste can be processed into something very useful, one of which is by being used as a resource for a Waste Power Plant (PLTSa). Substances contained in waste such as CH4 can be used to generate electricity that is more environmentally friendly and renewable (renewable energy). It’s time for Indonesia to look for alternative energy sources because fossil resources are not renewable resources so that if used continuously it can cause an energy crisis. By utilizing waste as renewable energy, can simultaneously reduce the problem of environmental pollution in Indonesia. The processing of waste into electrical energy can be done by dumping the waste in a field and covering it with a membrane for some time until the waste is fermented and produces CH4 dan CO2 gases, which are the gases that will be processed to generate electrical energy. In this study, we will analyze the efficiency of landfill technology on the electrical power output generated at the PLTSa Jatibarang Semarang. This study uses observation methods as well as data collection and analysis of operational efficiency calculations of landfill technology. From the calculation analysis, the data obtained for 6 months of electrical energy is 3.238.592,895 kWh and use generator capacity of 200 kW per month so that the efficiency of the landfill system at PLTSa Jatibarang Semarang is around 23,17% - 28,54%. Landfill technology is good when its efficiency ranges from 10% -80% (Hans Oonk, 2012).
