Abstract
Background: Dengue fever is one of the dengue virus infectious diseases transmitted to humans through the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito. Indonesia is the second country with the highest prevalence of dengue fever from 30 other endemic countries. In 2017, there were 68,407 cases of dengue fever. Until now the vaccine is still in the research stage, so the only way to break the chain of transmission is by vector control. Chemical abatization that has been done a lot of losses, active substances in the form of flavonoids, tannins, saponins and alkaloids are potentially used as a safer alternative to natural insecticides. Objective: This study aims to find out the effectiveness of flavonoids, tannins, saponins and alkaloids as larvacides Aedes aegypti. Method: This research uses narrative methods systematically with computerized database sources from PubMed, Google Scholar, ResearchGate, and several other journal sources between 2010-2020. The journal review obtained 18 journals that fit the restriction criteria. Result: The results of a study of 18 journals found that the active substances flavonoids, tannins, saponins and alkaloids are effectively used as larvacides Aedes aegypti. Conclusion: The content of active substances in the form of flavonoids, tannins, saponins and alkaloids can be used as larvacides of the Aedes aegypti
