Abstract

Each country must be able to develop the economy according to its potential. The economic potential is reflected in each sector. The mining sector is the largest sector that contributes to economic growth in Indonesia. To carry out the production, exploitation and exploration of natural resources requires a large investment. This study aims to estimate the effect of ICOR, interest rates, inflation, exchange rates, international commodity prices, and the Mining Stock Price Index on investment in the mining sector in Indonesia. The type of data used in this study is secondary data in the form of time series from 1999 – 2018, sourced from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), and from institutions related to the problem being studied. The analytical model used is Ordinary Least Square (OLS). It was found that ICOR, exchange rate, international gold price and mining stock price index had a significant effect and interest rates, inflation, international oil prices and international coal prices were found to have no effect on mining sector investment. The government and stakeholders are expected to encourage mining investment by creating a conducive investment climate and prospective investors who wish to invest in the mining sector need to pay attention to the movement of influential variables.
