Abstract
This study aims to analyze and describe the factors and mistakes made by students in solving story problems in the event probability material viewed from the SOLO Taxonomy. This study used qualitative research methods. Respondents in this study were class VIII B at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Kartasura which consisted of 34 students. Data collection techniques using observe, test and interview methods. In this research, the collected data will be examined using source triangulation, method triangulation and technical triangulation. The results obtained: the structural level, the percentage is 23.91%, the structural level is 34.78%, the multistructural level is 11.95%. , the relational level is 13.04%, and the extended abstract level is 16.30%. These results indicate that the students' errors at the unistructural level are the most at the other levels. The factors that cause students to make mistakes, namely: the structural level of students who are not able to understand the questions and take data information from the questions. The structural level is caused by the students' lack of understanding of the questions given, so that students are wrong because they do not make a mathematical model. The multistructural level students can only use a few pieces of information or solutions but cannot link them together so they have incorrect conclusions. The student's relational level has been able to understand the questions correctly, can plan and solve the questions well, but in giving conclusions students are still not right. The student's extended abstract level has been able to understand the questions properly and correctly, and is able to connect one step to another
