Abstract

Unemployment is an employment problem caused by the number of the workforce that is greater than the number of existing employment opportunities, so that not all workforce can be absorbed by employment and cause the number of unemployed to increase. In 2014-2018 unemployment in Indonesia tended to fluctuate so that the figure did not always decrease every year. This study aims to analyze the effect of the provincial minimum wage, government spending on education and large and medium industrial companies on the unemployment rate in Indonesia in 2014-2018 by using panel data analysis with fixed effect regression model. The results showed that simultaneously all research variables had an effect on the unemployment rate. Partially, the variables of the provincial minimum wage and the number of large and medium industries have no significant effect on the unemployment rate, while government spending on education has a significant effect on the unemployment rate.
