Abstract

This study aims to estimate the effect of gross regional domestic product, regional spending, inflation, and minimum wages on the number of unemployed in districts or cities in West Java Province in 2017-2019. The data used in this study are secondary data sourced from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and the Department of Manpower and Transmigration and analyzed by panel data regression. The results of the model selection test prove that the best fixed effect model (FEM) is chosen. The t test results show that regional spending and inflation have a negative effect on the number of unemployed, while the district or city minimum wage has a positive effect on the number of unemployed in West Java Province. Meanwhile, gross regional domestic product has no effect on the number of unemployed. The results of the F test prove that the fixed effect model approach exists. The coefficient of determination is 99.96%, meaning that the variation in unemployment can be explained by variations in GRDP, regional spending, inflation, and district or city minimum wages, while the remaining 0.04% is explained by other independent variables not included in the model.
