Abstract

The elderly are one of the groups vulnerable to contracting COVID-19 because they have undergone a degenerative process so that the immune system begins to decline. This will raise concerns for families living with the elderly. Anxiety arises due to stressors that the elderly are susceptible to contracting COVID-19. The purpose of this study was to describe the level of anxiety of elderly families during the COVID-19 pandemic in Gentan Village, Baki District, Sukoharjo Regency. This research is a type of quantitative research using a descriptive survey design. The number of samples in this study were 88 elderly families. Door-to-door sampling accompanied by health cadres using purposive sampling technique in February 2021. The research instrument used the GAD-7 (Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7) anxiety questionnaire which consists of 7 questions and has been modified to suit the respondent and the COVID-19 pandemic. The 7 questions proved valid because r count> r table (0.444) with a significance level of 0,05 and the reliability test results showed that it was reliable with a value of α is 0.774. The data analysis used was univariate analysis. The results showed that most respondents experienced moderate anxiety. Therefore, it can be concluded that the level of anxiety of elderly families in Gentan Village, Baki District, Sukoharjo Regency is moderate anxiety.
