Abstract

HIV-AIDS is a serious global health problem and world epidemic. Adherence to taking antiretrovirals is the most important factor in reducing the amount of HIV virus in the body. Treatment adherence can be influenced by individual, health services, side effect and social factors. The purpose of this study was to determine the percentage of patient compliance with Pill Count calculations and the factors that influence patient non-compliance with antiretroviral use. The inclusion criteria in this study were outpatients diagnosed with HIV / AIDS without comorbidities, patients aged ≥18 years, patients receiving and taking antiretrovirals, patients who had complete medical record data and were willing to be interviewed. Patient adherence was measured using Pill Count and reasons for non-adherence were evaluated using the ACTG (Adult AIDS Clinical Trial Group) questionnaire. Analysis with descriptive statistics and continued with chi square analysis and fisher test. The results showed that 82.9% of patients were adherent and 17.1% of patients were non-adherent. Factors that influence the level of patient adherence to antiretroviral treatment are individual factors including smoking habits, marital status, and social factors, namely support from others. The factors that did not affect the level of patient adherence were age, gender, education level, drinking alcohol habits, length of therapy, work, income, health service factors (distance, access, and source of costs) and side effect factors did not affect the level of medication adherence. antiretroviral.
