Abstract
This study aims to determine the description of employees who are certified in conducting competency maintenance efforts and the causes of doing the business. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. The selection of participants using a purposive sampling technique where the criteria in this study are employees who hold the HR competency certification. The data collection process used an open questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. The results showed, 4 of the informants stated that efforts to maintain competence were carried out by means of communication, the cause of the business arose because of the desire in oneself to be more creative, the desire to add insight, so that competence could be evaluated, because they still felt a little experience, so they could change the mindset so that there are no missteps and want to know the shortcomings you have. The second effort is learning, the cause of this business is the desire to seek new knowledge, because the world of HR is very broad and so that careers can progress. The third attempt is training, the cause of the business arises because of the desire to improve skills, want progress and want to add insight. The fourth attempt is bencmark, it arises because of a desire to gather new information and seek best practices. The fifth effort is a linear job, the cause of the business appears because it is more contributive, to work in accordance with expectations, so that competence can be applied, so that competence is not wasted, so that it is not easy to forget and so that knowledge can be maintained properly. The sixth effort is self development, the cause of this effort arises is the desire to understand the strengths and weaknesses of oneself. The seventh effort is cooperation, this effort arises because of the desire to find the best solution and want to reduce selfishness. The eighth attempt is iscipline, this effort arises because of the desire to get the best performance.
