Abstract

Background: Hypertension is one of the major public health problems and ranks fourth in the world based on its prevalence. Hypertension often occurs due to several factors, namely age, education, profession, family history, obesity, sport habits and so on. According to data from the Surakarta City Health Office, from January to September 2019 from all public health centers in Surakarta, the prevalence of hypertension was 30.1%. Meanwhile, the prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia based on interviews has increased, in 2007 it was 7.6% in 2013 to be 9.5%. Objective: This study aims to determine differences in exercise habits, age, education, occupation, family history and abdominal circumference of hypertension and not hypertension patients in the Surakarta City Public Health Center. Methods: This type of research was observational with a cross sectional approach. Determining the sample of this study using sequential random sampling by taking data of patients randomly who on that day came to the public health center to get a sample of 47 samples of hypertension and not hypertension patients respectively. Results:62.5% of hypertension patients who exercise did not exercise and 60.0% not hypertension patients who did not exercise. Patients with hypertension and not hypertension have the same results for the age range 45-59 years, which is equal to 100.0%. Patients with hypertension at the education level of SMP and SMA / SMK are the same, namely 37.5% and SD level of 25.0%, Patients without hypertension have the highest level of SMP at 50.0% and the lowest at SD and tertiary levels at 10%. The highest hypertension patients are working as entrepreneurs at 50.0%, the lowest is as private workers, namely 12.5%. The highest not hypertension patients were not working at 50.0% and the lowest was civil servants at 10.0%. Hypertension patients who have a family history of 75.0%, who do not have a family history of 25.0%. Patients without hypertension who have a family history of 30.0% and who do not have a family history of 70%. In hypertension patients who experience obesity 87.5, who are not obese 12.5%. Patients without hypertension who experienced obesity were 80.0% and those who were not obese were 20.0%. Conclusion: There are differences in profession and family history, there is no difference in age, education, abdominal circumference and sport habits between hypertension and not hypertension patients
