Abstract
Exclusive breastfeeding plans are very important to do, especially for female students who will become prospective mothers. With a good plan, it is hoped that the practice of exclusive breastfeeding will be realized in a more planned manner. One of the success factors in planning exclusive breastfeeding is influenced by the perception of a mother. This study aims to analyze the relationship between perceived vulnerability and the plan of exclusive breastfeeding for female students of the Public Health Study Program, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. This type of research is analytic observational with a cross sectional approach. The samples were taken using proportional random sampling technique, with a total sample of 187 active students in the Public Health Study Program of UMS semesters I, III, V, and VII. The statistical test of this study used the Chi-Square test. The results showed that there was a relationship between perceptions of vulnerability and plans for exclusive breastfeeding in the students of the Public Health Study Program, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta (p = <0.005). It is recommended that students who have high perceptions of vulnerability to become pioneers in planning exclusive breastfeeding among female students by making the topic of exclusive breastfeeding as a discussion material among female students and lecturers so that they can increase awareness of the importance of exclusive breastfeeding to increase self-confidence in providing breastfeeding in the future.
