Abstract

The aging process is a process that occurs continuously and interconnectedly, then it will cause some changes in the body so that it will affect the function and ability of the body as a whole. One of the most common diseases suffered by the elderly is in cardiovascular system problems which is a disease of hypertension. Maintaining health is willing and able to do disease prevention and protect yourself from health disorders. In this case knowledge has an important role to change one's behavior in a better direction. The purpose of this study is to find out the relationship of knowledge with health maintenance efforts in elderly people with hypertension in the working area of Puskesmas 3 Banguntapan, Bantul. This type of research is quantitative using descriptive correlative design with Proportional Random Sampling sampling techniques. The population in this study was elderly people who had hypertension in 11 hamlets of Puskesamas Banguntapan 3 Bantul working area with a research sample of 76 respondents. This research instrument uses questionnaires and data analysis used i.e. Chi Squarecorrelationtest. Chi Square Test results obtained a value of 0.172 p greater than 0.05 so it can be concluded that there is no relationship of knowledge with health maintenance efforts in elderly people with hypertension in the Working Area peskesmas Banguntapan 3 Bantul.
