Abstract
This study aims: (1.) To find out how the application of Schoology-based E-learning in the learning process in public sector accounting courses in accounting education students at Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. (2.) To determine the effect after the implementation of Schoology-based E-learning in public sector accounting courses in accounting education students at the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. (3.) To find out the activeness of Schoology-based E-learning in public sector accounting courses in accounting education students at the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. This type of qualitative research with ethnographic approach research design. Data collection techniques using interviews, observation of passive participation, and documentation. Data validity is done by source triangulation and method triangulation. Data analysis techniques use an interactive model with steps of data collection, data reduction, data presentation and data verification / drawing conclusions. The results showed that, (1) The application of e-learning learning media has been used in the Accounting Education Study Program which consists of 3 media platforms including Edmodo, Moodle and Schoology. (2) The effect of applying e-learning with schoology on public sector accounting courses has positive and negative impacts. The positive impact arising from the use of e-learning with schoology means that the learning process can be accented anywhere and anytime, accessing material that is easier and more flexible learning activities can be carried out anytime and anywhere without having to meet face to face. The negative impact of the application of e-learning with schoology is the reduced direct interaction between lecturer and student so that the lecturer cannot directly observe the progress of his students, (3) The activeness of learning in public sector accounting courses with the adoption of schoology-based e-learning has increased activity where students who are normally not active become more active and willing to argue in discussion forums using schoology because they can be accessed anytime and anywhere, easy access to material increase the activeness of students in processing and understanding the material because it can be done anytime and anywhere so that students are easier and more flexible in their learning process.
