Abstract

The research objectives were to 1) describe the types of commissive acts on the use of language among Kleco Traditional Market traders. 2) Describe the form of commissive politeness in the use of language among Kleco Traditional Market traders and 3) Describe buyers' perceptions of the use of politeness in language among Kleco Traditional Market traders. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The data used in this study are the realization of the act of commissive politeness in the use of language among Kleco Traditional Market traders. Sources of data in this study are traders and buyers when making buying and selling transactions among Kleco Traditional Market traders. The data collection techniques in this study also used record and note techniques as well as interviews, while the data validity study technique in this study used data triangulation. Then the data analysis techniques in this study were data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions / verification. The results of this study indicate that 1) Based on the results of the study, it is known that the types of commissive speech acts found in the use of language among Kleco Kartasura Traditional Market traders are 10 speech acts including 5 promising commissive speech acts, 3 swearing commissive speech acts, and 2 speech acts. commissive threatening. So it can be concluded that the most common form of commissive speech act is the promise of commissive speech act. 2) The form of commissive politeness in the use of language among Kleco traditional market traders, Kartasura found as many as 12 maxims which include 2 wisdom maxims, 2 acceptance maxims, 4 generosity maxims, 1 humility maxims, and 3 agreement maxims. 3) Based on the results of the interview, it is known that most traders use polite language towards buyers who are shopping Keywords:Realization, commissive speech acts, traders
