Abstract
Background: COVID-19 is a respiratory disease caused by a new type of coronavirus which was first discovered at the end of 2019 in Wuhan, China. COVID-19 spreads through droplets (splashes from the mouth or nose), close contact with sufferers. The main symptoms of exposure to COVID-19 are fever, dry cough, shortness of breath, and fatigue which also spreads to respiratory problems such as pneumonia. COVID-19 is an emergency for health workers and the global community where the demand for health services is increasing, health workers face an increased workload and fear of infection, especially physiotherapists who do not allow to maintain distance while providing services, many physiotherapists make direct contact while providing services. Recent research has revealed that asymptomatic individuals are both carriers and cause of infection, which will make physiotherapists experience anxiety. Anxiety is psychological stress which consists of feelings of discomfort, anxiety, panic, excessive fear worries about certain situations. Anxiety will trigger various physiological events and if it continues to occur, it can reduce the body's immunity. Anxiety in the era of the COVID-19 pandemic has a serious impact on the global community, especially health workers, this is supported by the lack of inadequate personal protective equipment (PPE), especially at the beginning of the pandemic, the public's view of health workers, pandemic uncertainty, and increased mortality. Objective: This study aims to determine the level of anxiety of physiotherapists in providing services during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: This study used an observational cross-sectional method. With a sample of physiotherapists in East Java as many as 30 people. Results: The results showed that 16 respondents had "moderate" anxiety (53.3%). Conclusion: There is a level of anxiety among physiotherapists in East Java in providing services during the COVID-19 pandemic.
