Abstract

Pneumonia is an infection of acute lung tissue (alveoli). The incidence of pneumonia in developing countries including Indonesia is almost 30% in children under the age of five, which is approximately 10-20 cases per 100 children per year with a high mortality rate. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the physical condition of the house and the incidence of pneumonia in toddlers. This research was conducted by literature review method. Literature in the form of journals sourced from electronic databases namely Science and Technology (Sinta). Based on the search results, found 7 literatures that fit the inclusion criteria, with case control and cross-sectional research methods. Statistical test using Chi-square (bivariate analysis) and Logistic Regression (multivariate analysis). In the free variables, 7 articles describe the factors of the physical condition of the house related and the variables most at risk of causing the incidence of pneumonia in toddlers based on bivariate analysis in the 7 articles, namely lighting (p = 0.000, OR = 16.5), temperature (p = 0.000, OR =12,727), humidity (p =0.000, OR=5.9) (Darmawati, 2016), ), roof type (p =0.000, OR= 14,175), floor type (p =0.000, OR =9,736) (Sartika , 2011) wall type (p=0.004, OR=6.62) (June, 2016), the physical condition of the house (p=0.038, OR=4.65) (Budiati, 2012), occupancy density (p =0.000, OR =4.4) (Wulandari, 2016), while based on multivariate tests, variables that are at risk of causing pneumonia, including roofing type (p =0.000, OR =26,775), occupancy density (p =16,335, OR =0.001) (Sartika, 2011), humidity (p =0.011, OR =19,170) (Darmawati, 2016), room temperature (p=0.009 , OR=4.3) (Padmonobo, 2012), ventilation area (p =0.011, OR=3.85) (Padmonobo, 2012).
