Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of company size, company value, profitability, and financial leverage on income smoothing in manufacturing companies in the food and beverages subsector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). This research is a quantitative study using secondary data in the form of financial statements of companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the period 2016-2019. The technique used in sampling in this study was purposive sampling technique which resulted in 8 selected samples for research. Data analysis used is the classical assumption test and multiple linear regression analysis. The results show that there is a simultaneous significant effect of company size, company value, profitability, and financial leverage on income smoothing in the food and beverages subsector manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the period 2016-2019. There is a partially significant effect of the profitability variable on income smoothing, while company size, company value, and financial leverage have no effect on income smoothing in the foods and beverages subsector manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the 2016-2019 period.
