Abstract
Mass media especially television is an important component, especially in reporting on traumatic events such as news about disasters. Apart from providing up-to-date information about disaster events, the presence of television media can also help reduce the burden and assist in the recovery process for disaster victims and their families. However, the emergence of television media tends to be inversely proportional to this. The emergence of television tends to exacerbate the suffering and trauma to the victims through the broadcast news. The news broadcast by the media often ignores the principles of disaster journalism, which always focuses on the traumatic and dramatic victims. This study to get an overview of the application of ethical journalism disaster in television news, especially news of the flash flood disaster in Lebak Banten on Gtv. This research method is qualitative with a content analysis approach. The research results in this study concluded that Gtv has not fully implemented the ethics of disaster coverage in accordance with Article 25 of the broadcasting code of conduct and broadcast program standards, the Indonesian broadcasting commission in 2012, but with a relatively small amount of news.
