Abstract
The Surakarta City Government has an aspiration to turn Surakarta City into a Creative City. This is supported by data which states that the number of creative industries in Surakarta was 497 units in 2019. The growth of the creative industry shows quite good development, especially the creative economy is getting more attention in the current era of government, with the establishment of BEKRAF, a government agency that manages the creative industry in Indonesia. However, this medium for creative industry players is not well developed in Surakarta. Research conducted by non-government research institutions in collaboration with the Surakarta City Tourism Office which conducted research on ± 170 creative spaces in the city of Surakarta stated that as many as 48% of creative spaces in the city of Surakarta were classified as C, which means that their existence has not been optimally utilized and some improvements still need to be done so that it is worthy of being a creative space. This research was conducted in order to obtain a mapping of creative space in the city of Surakarta regarding the profile of this creative space and its potential as a space for innovation and community creation. This Creative Space planning and design program aims to accommodate creative industry players who can support all aspects of creative activities, both in terms of complete facilities, community variants, and products in the creative economy sector, which are expected to be a forum for creative economy actors to be able develop their ideas, works, and innovations for the welfare of society and realize the ideals of Surakarta to become a Creative City. The concept that is carried uses the Sustainable Architecture approach in order to efficiently use energy and minimize waste generated from various activities in the building.
