Abstract

The mushrooming of modern minimarkets occurs because of various things including a denser population and as population growth is increasingly rapid, daily needs are also increasing. The research objectives are to assess income after the existence of modern minimarkets before & during Covid19, to assess the income of shopping stores & grocery store before and during the Covid-19 pandemic, and reviewing the survival strategies of the two stores. The population in this study were 5 resource persons in grocery & retail stores in Colomadu District, and the sampling method used was random sampling. Data collection using interviews and questionnaires. The research instruments used included questionnaire sheets, stationery, laptops and argis software. The data analysis method steps are, data reduction, data presentation, data retrieval. This process is to obtain the validity of the data by examining all data from various sources. The results of the research of retail traders in Colomadu District tended to be stable before the existence of modern minimarkets, after the existence of a minimarket in the sub-district, the income / turnover decreased by 25% - 50% per day. Grocery store revenue has decreased turnover 15-45% per day. For retail stores monthly income starts from 22,500,000 rupiah to 32,400,000 rupiah, while for grocery traders monthly income starts from 48,000,000 rupiah to 76,500,000 rupiah. For the decline in retail & grocery stores after the pandemic 300-500 thousand per day. Apart from the impact of modern minimarkets, which have an impact on decreasing income, coupled with the current conditions that are being hit by the Covid19 pandemic, it is worsening the situation in the economic sector. To face competition with minimarkets, traders need to have a special strategy because in reality at this time minimarkets are more existence than retailers and grocery stores. The strategy used by traders here is to start by changing their working hours to 24 hours, creating attractive promos every day and starting using non-cash payment methods such as Ovo, dana, gopay. The strategy is important for traders to retain customers and their business presence to build a distinctive and image-changing plan that is able to meet consumer needs and problems carried out by minimarkets.
