Abstract
This research was done on the process of metal casting in Karanganyar – Central Java. The manufacturing process is carried out at three work stations with 13 activities. Workers suffer burns, eye irritation and hearing loss because workers do not use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while working. The purpose of this study is to identify hazards, conduct risk assessments of work accidents and provide risk control recommendations. Hazard Identification Risk Assessment and Risk Control (HIRARC) measures are: (1) hazard identification, (2) risk assessment, and (3) risk control. For risk assessment using an additional method that is the British Standard Institution (BSI) method. The result is that there are 30 potential hazards from 13 work activities with the result of calculation of 1 potential hazard with very high risk, there are 1 (very high Risk), 8 potential dangers (High Risk) there are 8, 5 potential hazards with medium risk (Medium Risk) there are 5, potential dangers with low risk (Low Risk) there are 7, and 9 potential dangers with very low risk (Very Low Risk) there are 9. The results of the analysis of hazard source conditions and risk assessment are required further handling, namely procurement and use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and SOP.
