Abstract

ABSTRACT Al-Quran, the last holy book as the main source of the faith and practice of the Muslims, in it concerns all things that humans need in their lives, including wisdom, Aqeedah doctrine, Worship, Sharia, Law, Muamalah and others. The discussion about Aqeedah includes the hypocritical nature. Al-Quran explains in detail about the characteristics of hypocrites, by mentioning the word al￾munāfiqūn in 4 surahs 8 verses, al-munāfiqīn words in 7 surahs and 19 verses that talk about hypocrites from all aspects globally. Likewise, hypocrisy is expressed in Nifāq masdar in 2 surahs 4 verses. Some verses in the Quran also describe hypocrisy without mentioning the word hypocrite itself. The word hypocrite is commonly found in the Quran shows that this hypocritical case needs to be studied specifically and deeply. At the beginning of Surah al-Baqarah Allah reviews believers in His four verses (1-5), reviews infidels in His two verses (verses 6-7) and reviews hypocrites in His thirteen verses (8 -20). This verse speaks of hypocrites in whose hearts there are diseases, such as hatred, jealousy, heresy, mental imbalance, even death of conscience. This research will focus on Sayyid Quthb's interpretation of the hypocritical characteristics in Surah Al Baqarah verses 8-20, with the book Fī Ẓilālil Qurān which is a book of interpretation of adabi ijtima’i. Our current situation and conditions are not much different from the situation and conditions when the Fī Ẓilālil Qurān was written. This type of research is a library research, with a descriptive analysis approach, the primary source of this research is the 1982 book of Fī Ẓilālil Qurān by Sayyid Quthb translated into Indonesian by Aunur Rafiq Shaleh Tamhid, Lc. Secondary sources from this research include “Biografi Sayyid Quthb “Sang Syahid” yang Melegenda” by Dr. Shalah al-Khalidiy. To analyze the collected data used the Tahlili Interpretation method. The conclusion that can be drawn from this study is that among the hypocritical characteristics is that in their hearts there are diseases, such as hatred, jealousy, heresy, mental imbalance, even death of conscience. Allah SWT reciprocates their hypocrisy by letting them oscillate in error and darkness. Their souls are filled with confusion, anxiety and fear.
