Abstract
Introduction: LBW is a risk factor for infant mortality, especially during the perinatal period. LBW is influenced by the nutritional history of pregnant women such as chronic energy deficiency (CED) and anemia. Objective: The purpose of this study was to analyze the correlation between anemia and chronic energy deficiency (CED) in pregnant women with the incidence of low birth weight (LBW) in Wirun Village, Mojolaban District, Sukoharjo. Methodology: Researchers chose this location because the prevalence of LBW in Wirun Village was 8.41% and it was higher than the prevalence in Sukoharjo Regency (3.8%). This type of research was an observational study with a cross sectional design. The sample in this study were all pregnant women in 2019 in Wirun Village, totaling 78 subjects based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data analysis used quantitative test. Test the correlation between anemia and CED in pregnant women with the incidence of LBW used the Chi-Square test. Results: The results of this study were most of the age of the subjects was 82.1%, subjects who had anemia and CED were 29.4% and 24.3%, while not anemic and not CED were 70.6% and 75.7%, while subjects who experienced LBW 10,2% and not LBW 89.8%. Conclusion: The results of the correlation test were that there was no correlation between anemia in pregnant women and the incidence of LBW (p = 0.266), and there was no correlation between CED in pregnant women and the incidence of LBW (p = 0.075).
